Since 2009....
Some of the new people I have met have been through my classes. My counsler put me in the wrong class at first so then I got switched into Advance Gymnastics. In this class I have a few old friends, even some that took Basic Gymnastics with me but there are still plenty more to meet. I have made it a daily goal to meet at least one new person a day untill I have met them all and so far so good.
As for the changes to my daily life, I made a New Year's resolution to keep my room clean and do my chores more on time and better. I decided that I should do all I can to be all I can be and I am sticking to it. Another daily change for me is that no matter what I am going to do the right thing. Even if others think may be completly wrong, I'm going to stop and think before I act and pick the option I see best fitting.
My wrestling team this year is absolutly great. As always though, there are a few lazy bums that sign up but dont try to improve, but even with them on the team we have stil come along way and those who try have gotten better. I myself have become a monster. Im not sure of my record but I am sure it is very good. I have not gotten meny pins, but I have won alot by running out the clock when I am up in points. We have one team standing in our way of becoming confrance champs which is harding. Coaches say we have a very good chance of beating them and once we do, we would have done what hasnt been done by Central wrestlers for 40 years.

LRJ #2 on boawulf

4th Hour
LRJ 2
The people in this story have very noble values. They values things such as: armor, weapons, and skills. They value armor intensely because it to have good armor it must have been crafted from a very skilled blacksmith, also the better the armor the better protection and if it could be made to look good also then that was something of great value. They also valued their weapons with a great passion. This is expressed when the story speaks of the sword Hrunting, “At that moment of need was of no small importance: The brehon handed him a hilted weapon, a rare and ancient sword named Hrunting” (line 1456 – 1458). This quote shows that weapons are of grave importance to them and where cherished. Another value is swordsmanship. The better a warrior can wield a sword the more respected he is among men. Beowulf is an extremely well rounded warrior, and as he comes to kill Grendel and his mother he boast the whole time of his to be victory. Just the fact that he is willing to even try gains the men’s respect and they give him anything he requires.
There are many unrealistic images presented in this story. One of the biggest is Grendals mother. She is supposed to be presented as pure evil, a giant monster with claws and talons. She lives in a lake and comes up to eat humans like her son. The story describes her very intensely, but she can be put into the same class as “the boogie-man” or “the monsters under the bed/ in the closet”. Another unrealistic image is the power that the sword Hrunting is supposed to wield. If it were even slightly realistic, when it struck Grendals mother, it would have at least made some sort of cut. The quote “Then heaved his war sword and swung his arm; the decorated blade came down ringing and singing on her head. But he soon found his battle torch extinguished: the shining blade refused to bite”(line 1520 – 1524) shows that this weapon was supposed to have some special, extraordinary properties about it to make it even stronger, but even with that, it failed to even harm the beast at all. Hrunting is not the only sword with special attributes beheld in it. The sword that Grendals mother has strapped to her side also is special. In the quote “Meanwhile; the sword began to wilt into gory icicles, to slather and thaw. It was a wonderful thing, the way it all melted as ice melts” (line 1605 – 1608) shows that this blade some how has a possibility to melt after its use to behead Grendals mother. A realistic sword defiantly would not melt.

Antigone Paper
Antigone has been put in an awkward position. In one case she can leave her brothers body be, but in the eyes of the gods, be judged guilty of not honoring his body and giving him a proper burial. Her other option is to be judged guilty in the eyes of her king for going against his commands.
In the case of Antigone being guilty in the eyes of the gods, she is stuck with two unpleasant outcomes. The first possible outcome is she will be respected for obeying the king’s commands in such a personal situation. The downside to this is that she will feel no pride within herself and have no self respect. When the king stated, “He’s to have no funeral or lament, but to be left un buried and un wept, a sweet treasure for the birds to look at, for them to feed on to their hearts content.”(Sophocles line 35 – 37), Antigone realized this would be most disrespectful to her family which is against the law of the gods.
In the case of Antigone being guilty in the eyes of the king, she meets her end. This act of punishment is not exactly justified though. All but King Creon seem to see Antigone doings as proper. This is expressed in Haemon’s statement to his father, “Your gaze makes the citizens afraid. They can’t say anything you would not like to hear. But in the darkness I can hear them talk. The city is upset about this girl. They say of all women here, she’s least deserves the worst of deaths for her glorious act.”(Sophocles line 783 – 788). This statement shows that Haemon has listened to the people of the city and they all agree that Antigone is not guilty.
The people and the prophet have deemed Antigone innocent. She is only judged guilty by the king, who in turn, changes his mind to agree with Antigone being innocent. It was only after Creon had lost his son and wife did he truly snap out his ignorance and stubbornness and realize Antigone did nothing wrong, but rather made the right choice. Antigone is innocent for choosing to obey the law of the gods over the law of her king.

Lrj # 1 Letter to Antigone
I see now that the law of man comes into focus differently when it effects you personally. I see now that I was the one in wrong. For obeying mans law, I have gone against the law of the gods. For this I am immensely regretful. I understand why my choice of actions have made you so upset. If i were in your place I would have more then likely have made the same choices and taken the same actions.
Now that I have seen the same light as you, I wish to the fullest i hesitated to be so stubborn and ignorant. I wish i could have fallowed your example and helped you give our brother the burial he deserves.
